According to the Oxford Advance Learner's Dictionary the meaning of salvation is 'the state of being saved from the power of evil', but talking about salvation is something wider than the meaning of it.
In simple words salvation simply means being saved. Now the question arises '' if salvation means to be saved, then ,who is saved from what? by whom ? and how ?'' .
As per the literacy rate every one of us know the term salvation and many of us know the concept of it like how it works and so on based on their religious beliefs.
But how many of us in real really experience the state of being saved ?,how many of us know the real savior who in real saves us?. I am sure very few of us know the real savior and very few of us go through the state of being saved. It is because many of us don't go after the genuine savior that is Jesus Christ alone, the state of being saved by The Almighty Lord Jesus Christ is very powerful!.
I can say very firmly that ''i am saved with the blood of Jesus Christ alone" because i have been through the procedure of it, and have experienced the joy of being saved by the real sole savior, i can say that to the world.
As i have said earlier about the question that arises, i.e who is saved from what? , the simple response to the question is, ' an individual is saved from being in hell in his/her afterlife '. Therefore the overall meaning of it is that one is saved from being in hell, because hell is for the fallen angels not for humans whom The almighty God loves so much. But a man with sinful nature who doesn't accept Christ as his/her personal savior will certainly be in hell after the judgement. In order to not let man fall into sinful nature Jesus came down to earth and showed us the way to go to heaven through him alone. So Christ alone saves us from being in hell to have eternal life there.
The answer for the question 'by whom will we be saved?', is JESUS alone. The only savior
who can give us salvation is Jesus Christ.
How does he save us?. The answer to it in short is He is the Son of God, He came down to earth , He sacrificed himself for our sins , died at the cross, rose up the third day, and then was taken up to heaven and left His Holy Spirit among us.
Analyzing this by reference of the Bible we can understand that because every one in this world sinned, it was/is not possible for humans to be in heaven taking their/our sin with them/us .Because God and sin can never be together, it is impossible for us to be with God with sin attached to us. Because we are sinners and as i said before, God and sin cannot be together just like the likely two poles of a magnet never sticks to each other, we cannot enter heaven with sin with us . Seeing the sins that humans have done God could have completely wipe out every creature from earth and he could have made a complete new creation, but He didn't do so, why? because of his love for us. Because He loved/loves us so much He couldn't do it, rather God sent his only beloved son i.e Jesus and let Jesus take our sin away and lay down his life for us. Now through Jesus and his grace we are saved and salvation is ours as said in the Bible in JOHN 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believe in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Through Christ we are saved, by his Grace we live.
